Great Food and Drink at Halligan’s Public House in Warwick, NY - DOING IT ALL WITH MARK

Great Food and Drink at Halligan’s Public House in Warwick, NY

Read Time:3 Minute, 56 Second

Halligan’s Public House offers a great menu of Delicious Pub Fare in Warwick, NY.

Warwick, New York in Orange County is by far one of the busiest tourist traveled towns in Orange County. In the Spring and Summer, crowds are drawn to the Farmers Markets and Street Fairs. Fall brings just as many for the Apple Picking and the Winery Trails. The winter, skiers to one of the many small resorts wander in looking for some decompression from a day on the slopes.

No matter what the reason for the visit, Warwick offers many choices for dining. Today I visited Halligan’s Public House, named after the creator of the Halligan Tool used by Firefighters worldwide. It was not my first time I have eaten here, but I have to say I never leave disappointed. The staff is always friendly and the Guinness is poured perfectly.

Food in Pubs can sometime be bland, uninspired and common. Many times the menus are the usual order of Buffalo wings, Irish Nachos and Shepherds Pie. NOT HERE.

There have been time I have eaten here and rather than eat an entree I have gone for multiple appetizer and starters. I want to talk about two appetizers I recently ate, one for the first time and one because it is probably my favorite dish.

RESCUE 3 Halligan’s Wings

Halligan’s Wings, yes I know I just complained about the usual version of Buffalo wings.

Halligan’s Wings come with a choice of Buffalo, Asian Sesame, Garlic Parmesan, Barbecue, Spicy Honey Mustard, or RESCUE 3. I had all the flavors except for Rescue 3 (named after the FDNY Rescue Company based in the Bronx). Anything named after a fire company I assume are the super hot, suicidal wing. Wrong….Halligan’s combine 3 of there best Wing Sauces to make RESCUE 3 Halligan’s Wings (Buffalo, BBQ and Asian).

I am a wing guy and I am far too often disappointed by what some places call wings. Nothing is worse than a scrawny, under cooked wing except for maybe a overcooked wing. Halligan’s Wings are cooked to perfection, big meaty, crispy skin and juice inside.

Now when the waiter suggested the Rescue 3 sauce as mentioned I immediately pictured hot hot hot. He explained what it was, so I said “What the heck. Go for it.” I actually said that, really I did.

The RESCUE 3 sauce give you the best of 3 worlds, the tang of Asian, the sweet of BBQ and just a hint of heat and spice of Buffalo, on top of perfectly cook fat wings. I could have eaten them all night.  The sauce is not loose and messy so you don’t go through 10 napkins while eating. Instead the sauce holds to the wings and stays thick and layers the skin even after dipped in Blue cheese, the sharp cool of the dressing compliments the RESCUE 3 sauce.

SEARED BEEF TIPS

Even though I could have just eaten the wings all day, happily I had chosen one of my go to all time favorites at Halligan’s Public House, if not one of my favorite of all places, Halligan’s SEARED BEEF TIPS.

Seared Beef Tips is to simple of a description. It is large plate with a generous portion of juicy seared beef tips on top of lightly toasted Italian bread, placed on a delicious ocean of cheese fondue with grape tomatoes drizzled with olive oil.

The fondue is beyond delicious, take away everything else and I would eat it as a soup. Just thinking about the slight bite of what must be Gorgonzola  cheese, make my mouth water. To add the bread and tasty beef tips only brings it to a level of decadence. There is no wrong way to eat this plate as the combination of ingredients alone or together are scrumptious. Bread and Cheese, Beef and Cheese, Bread, Beef and Cheese, Just Beef, Just Cheese, You get the idea.

I can say with certainty that this dish has never not been ordered while we dine at Halligan’s.

This is just two of a large menu of choices. The large selection will have you coming back again just to try something different.

So next time you find yourself wandering the street of Warwick, NY, make your way to 22 West St just a off Main Street. Sit down have a Guiness or a Coke, but don’t forget to have these culinary delights.
